How to Connect Galaxy Watch 8

Connecting your Galaxy Watch 8 requires the Galaxy Wearable app and an Android phone running Android 12 or higher. The initial setup takes about 10-15 minutes.


Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • Phone Requirements: Android 12+ with 1.5GB+ RAM and Google Mobile Services
  • Apps Installed: Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health from Google Play Store
  • Bluetooth On: Enable Bluetooth on your phone
  • Watch Charged: At least 30% battery on the watch

Connection Steps

Step 1: Prepare the Watch

  1. Power on the watch by holding the side button for 3 seconds
  2. Select your language
  3. Wait for the watch to enter pairing mode

Step 2: Open Galaxy Wearable

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable on your phone
  2. Tap Start the journey
  3. Grant all requested permissions

Step 3: Pair the Devices

  1. Select Galaxy Watch 8 from the detected devices
  2. Confirm the 6-digit pairing code matches on both screens
  3. Tap Pair on your phone
  4. Sign in to your Samsung and Google accounts
  5. Allow software updates to download

WiFi Setup

Connect to WiFi for standalone functionality when away from your phone.

  1. Open Settings on the watch
  2. Go to Connections WiFi
  3. Select your network and enter the password
  4. Or sync passwords automatically from your phone via Galaxy Wearable

Connection Troubleshooting

Pairing Fails

  • Keep devices within 3 feet
  • Restart both phone and watch
  • Clear Galaxy Wearable app cache
  • Disable Bluetooth, wait 10 seconds, re-enable

Connection Drops Frequently

  • Check for Bluetooth interference from other devices
  • Ensure watch and phone have adequate battery
  • Update Galaxy Wearable to latest version

Apps Not Syncing

  • Verify notification permissions for Galaxy Wearable
