Gemini Privacy and Security Settings on WearOS

Gemini processes your voice commands, health data, and personal information to provide helpful responses. Understanding and configuring privacy controls helps you use Gemini while protecting sensitive data.

Core Privacy Controls​

Access your main privacy settings through your phone's Google app or at myactivity.google.com.

  • Voice & Audio Data: Go to Google Account Data & Privacy Web & App Activity to control whether voice recordings are saved. You can enable text-only saving or disable storage entirely.

  • Location Access: Gemini uses location for context-aware responses. Manage this in Settings Apps Gemini Permissions Location. Choose between "Always," "While using," or "Deny."

  • Conversation History: By default, Gemini saves conversation history. Delete past conversations in the Gemini app under Activity Delete activity.

  • Personal Data Access: Control whether Gemini can read your calendar, contacts, and email. Review permissions in Settings Google Gemini Extensions.

Health Data Privacy​

Gemini can access sensitive health information from your watch sensors and fitness apps.

  • Health Permissions: Review what health data Gemini can access in Settings Apps Gemini Permissions. Consider disabling health access if you don't use fitness voice commands.

  • Google Fit Integration: Gemini reads from Google Fit by default. Disconnect this in Google Fit Profile Manage connected apps Gemini.

  • Emergency Data: Configure what health information Gemini can share during emergencies in Settings Safety & emergency Medical information.

  • Third-Party Apps: If Gemini connects to apps like Samsung Health or Strava, review those apps' privacy settings separately.

Security Configuration​

Protect your Gemini access with appropriate security measures.

  • Two-Factor Authentication: Gemini uses your Google account security. Enable 2FA at myaccount.google.com/security for stronger protection.

  • Device Authorization: View devices with Gemini access in Google Account Security Your devices. Remove unfamiliar devices immediately.

  • Session Management: Sign out of Gemini on your watch by going to Settings Google Accounts select account Remove account.

  • Security Alerts: Enable notifications for suspicious activity in Google Account Security Security alerts.

Data Deletion Options​

Remove your Gemini data when needed.

  • Delete Specific Conversations: In the Gemini app, tap a conversation menu Delete. This removes it from your history.

  • Delete All History: Go to myactivity.google.com Gemini Apps Activity Delete all. This removes all saved conversations.

  • Auto-Delete Setup: Configure automatic deletion in Google Account Data & Privacy Web & App Activity Auto-delete. Choose 3, 18, or 36 months.

  • Full Data Export: Download all your Gemini data at takeout.google.com before deleting if you want a personal copy.

Enterprise and Work Accounts​

Corporate Google Workspace accounts may have additional privacy controls managed by your IT department.

  • Admin Policies: Your organization may restrict Gemini features or enforce specific privacy settings. Contact IT if features are unexpectedly unavailable.

  • Data Residency: Enterprise accounts may have requirements about where data is processed. Gemini respects these configurations automatically.

  • Audit Logging: Work accounts may log Gemini usage for compliance. Assume work-related queries are monitored.

  • Personal vs Work: Consider using your personal Google account on your watch if you need Gemini for private matters.

Regional Privacy Rights​

Your location affects available privacy controls.

  • GDPR (Europe): European users can request complete data deletion and export. Access these options in Google Account Data & Privacy.

  • CCPA (California): California residents have additional rights to know what data is collected and opt out of data sales.

  • Other Regions: Gemini automatically applies relevant local privacy regulations based on your account settings and location.
