Gemini Subscription Requirements for WearOS

Gemini on WearOS works with both free Google accounts and paid Gemini Advanced subscriptions. Most core features are free, while advanced AI capabilities require a subscription.

Free Gemini Features​

These features work with any Google account at no cost.

  • Basic Voice Commands: Weather, timers, alarms, reminders, and simple questions all work without a subscription. Say Set a timer for 10 minutes or What's the weather tomorrow.

  • Smart Home Control: Control Google Home devices, run scenes, and check device status. Say Turn off the lights or Lock the front door.

  • Standard Searches: Ask general knowledge questions, get directions, and perform web searches. Say How tall is Mount Everest or Navigate to the nearest gas station.

  • Basic Productivity: Check calendar events, set reminders, and send basic messages. Say What's on my calendar today or Remind me to call mom at 5 PM.

Gemini Advanced Features​

Gemini Advanced costs $19.99/month (included with Google One AI Premium) and unlocks enhanced capabilities.

  • Enhanced AI Responses: More detailed, nuanced, and contextual answers to complex questions. Better understanding of follow-up questions and conversation history.

  • Extended Conversations: Longer, more in-depth conversations without losing context. Free Gemini may truncate or forget earlier parts of conversations.

  • Priority Processing: Faster response times during peak usage. Free users may experience delays when Google's servers are busy.

  • Advanced Workspace Integration: Deeper integration with Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive. Summarize emails, draft responses, and analyze documents from your watch.

Checking Your Subscription​

Verify your current Gemini access level.

  • Voice Check: Say What Gemini plan do I have or Am I subscribed to Gemini Advanced to hear your current status.

  • Google One App: Open the Google One app on your phone tap your profile Membership to see if AI Premium is active.

  • Feature Test: Try an advanced query like Summarize my last 5 emails. If it works, you have Gemini Advanced. If declined, you're on the free tier.

  • Account Settings: Visit one.google.com on a browser to manage your subscription and billing.

WearOS Limitations​

Some Gemini Advanced features available on phones don't work on watches.

  • Visual Features: Image generation, chart creation, and visual analysis aren't available on WearOS due to screen size limitations.

  • Long-Form Content: Detailed document analysis and lengthy responses are truncated for watch display. Use your phone for extended content.

  • Gems: Custom Gemini Gems may have limited functionality on WearOS. Complex Gem interactions work better on phone or computer.

  • Processing Power: Some computationally intensive features may be slower or unavailable on watch hardware.

Billing and Family Sharing​

Manage your Gemini Advanced subscription across devices and family members.

  • One Subscription, All Devices: Your Gemini Advanced subscription works on your watch, phone, tablet, and computer automatically. No additional setup needed.

  • Google One Family: Share Gemini Advanced with up to 5 family members through Google One family plans. Each member gets full access on all their devices.

  • Cancellation: If you cancel, your watch reverts to free Gemini immediately. All basic features continue working; only advanced features become unavailable.

  • Free Trial: Google One AI Premium sometimes offers free trials. Check one.google.com for current offers before subscribing.
